Update Employee Compensation with Import Template for Open Enrollment

If any of your benefits use the employee’s compensation to determine cost and/or benefit amount, then it is important that you update the compensation data within the system to the most recent values. This is typically done by importing data with a standard import. We can use the "Compensation Rates (End Date Prior Record)" import template to simplify the process for updating compensation records in bulk and automatically end previous matching ccompensation records to reduce effort.

Fill Out Import Template

  • You can download an import template and review column information/requirements from our dedicated article here.

  • The required fields are labeled in red and can be used to indentify and update existing compensation records for employees.

    • Employee SSN/Employee ID - Must match an existing employee within the system. Either SSN or Employee ID can be used. The import will check for a match by SSN first and then by Employee ID to find a match within Core HR.
    • Rate Type - Must be “Salary” or “Hourly”
    • Start Date - Must be a valid date. Should indicate the date that the Rate becomes effective.
    • Per Pay Rate - Must be a valid number.

Import File

  1. Expand Data, expand Imports, and click Standard from the menu.

  2. Set up the settings for the standard import:

    CHR - Benefit Management - Open Enrollment - Import - 00.png

    • Import Type - Set the import type to "Compensation Rates (End Date Prior Record)".
    • Import File - Browse to the import template that you filled out.
    • Worksheet Name - Enter the name of the worksheet, typically "Sheet1".
  3. Click Import File.
  4. Confirm the import.

  5. Review the status of the import from the "File History" tab.
