Guide to Installing/Updating AccountLinx/SyncLinx

AccountLinx & SyncLinx are additional applications we offer that allow you to import certain information from supported accounting programs into ExakTime and export time data into file or directly into supported accounting programs

Installing/updating AccountLinx/SyncLinx can require elevated computer privileges and may require an Administrator login for your computer to proceed through the installation and setup. Please keep this in mind if you need to consult with your IT professional for assistance.

 All Copies Must Be Minimum Compatible Version

All copies of AccountLinx/SyncLinx at your organization must meet the minimum compatible version to operate. This allows multiple versions of the applications to be in use to limit constant updates and makes some updates optional.

However, if an update is required, all versions of Account/SyncLinx must be updated to the required version.

The latest publicly available version is 4.7.8.1080 as of 11/19/2024.

Starting with 4.7.7.86, AccountLinx will now automatically prompt when opening if a new version is available to help ensure you are using the latest version of AccountLinx.

 Windows 11 Compatibility

As of June 6th, 2022, AccountLinx/SyncLinx has been verified as fully compatible with Windows 11.

Installing AccountLinx/SyncLinx

You can refer to either our instruction video or use our step-by-step guide below the video.

  1. Download the AccountLinx installer below. Run/open the installer after the download completes.
  2. Follow through with the prompts at the bottom of the window.

  3. It will begin to download and install anything necessary for AccountLinx & SyncLinx.

  4. After the installer finishes downloading what it needs, it will begin to install AccountLinx. Follow the prompts for the installation.

  5. When the installation is completed, click Finish.

  6. When the installation is complete click Launch ExakTime Utilities and proceed to the next section.
    • If this is an update to an existing copy of AccountLinx or a reinstallation of AccountLinx, click Finish as your ExakTime Utilities should already be set up.

Accessing Your Credentials

Credentials are required to connect your SyncLinx/AccountLinx applications to your ExakTime Connect account. This connection allows you to import entities into ExakTime Connect via SyncLinx and export time data from ExakTime Connect via AccountLinx. 

  1. Administrators can access these credentials by clicking the ARC - Success Center Icon.png icon for 'Success Center' while logged in to ExakTime Connect. If you do not see the icon, please consult your primary ExakTime administrator who can access the credentials on your behalf.

  2. Your credentials will be labeled with the company name from our records under the 'Resources' section. Click the title or the download icon to download the text file.

  3. Open the text file downloaded from 'Success Center' to view your credentials. They should appear like below.

Setting Up ExakTime Utilities

ExakTime Utilities is used by AccountLinx and SyncLinx to connect the applications with your ExakTime Connect account.

If you didn't use the "Launch ExakTime Utilities" button from the previous step, you can open it from the program folders. You can expand the following section for steps to open ExakTime Utilities.

From the Start Menu, scroll through the list to the "E" section, expand the ExakTime, and click ExakTime Utilities.

From the Start Menu, search for "ExakTime utilities". The Start Menu should automatically show you the best matches from your PC as you type the app name. Click ExakTime Utilities from the left-hand side or Open on the right-hand side while ExakTime Utilities is highlighted.

  1. Click Database Settings to the left of ExakTime Utilities.

  2. Copy and paste the credentials from the text file into the matching fields.
    • While the 'Server' field is a drop-down menu, you must paste the server text from the text file into the field directly. Clicking the 'Server' drop-down menu will try to populate with servers from your local network, if any, and not ours.
    • When copying and pasting the password, include the quotation marks ( " ).
    • The fields may be pre-populated in 'Database Settings'. If the information in those fields is incorrect, you can remove it and enter the appropriate credentials from the text file.

  3. Click Test Connection. after entering/pasting your credentials in the provided fields.

  4. You should receive a message that the connection was successful. Click OK to remove the message and then click Save next to the "Test Connection" button.
    • If you receive a message that the connection tested successfully, but your database is out of date, you can ignore the message and click OK. This will not impact your use of AccountLinx/SyncLinx.

  5. When finished, you can open AccountLinx/SyncLinx. If the application opens with no connection warnings/errors, then "ExakTime Utilities" has been correctly set up.
  6. If you receive the following error when trying to open AccountLinx/SyncLinx, this generally indicates that your credentials were not saved. Please go to the beginning of this section, try inputting your credentials again and make sure to save them.

Getting SyncLinx & AccountLinx Ready
