The geofence is a circular digital fence that covers a location based on the longitude/latitude coordinates associated with a location and helps drive geofence-reliant features, such as confirming if a time punch was made on-site, restricting employees from clocking in while outside a geofence, and more.
The longitude/latitude is generated when you first enter the address for a location or when it is imported from a CSV file. Changing the address after the longitude/latitude has already been generated does not change the existing geofence. If there is no available address for a location, such as a service building alongside a road, you can enter the latitude/longitude for a location manually.
- Go to Manage and click Locations.
- Click the
eye icon to the left of a location to view its details.
- Click Edit to edit the location details.

Adjust Geofence
After a location has GPS coordinates, a geofence will be generated around the coordinates.
- Click Time.
- Click and drag the circle around the radius or use the "Geofence radius" field.
Please Note
- When adjusting the geofence, make sure that it covers where employees are working and where they may clock in from. The GPS coordinate does not need to be at the location, it can be placed between where the employees start their day and where they work.
- Avoid making the GEOFence too small. While an employee may be at the job site, their device may place them outside the GEOFence of the location when clocking in/out.
Adjust Latitude/Longitude
The GPS coordinates of a location can be edited from the "General" tab of the location.
Moving GPS Coordinate
You can move the GPS coordinate manually by clicking and dragging the PIN to the desired spot.
Entering Coordinates Manually
If there are no GPS coordinates to adjust or they are incorrect, you can enter the GPS coordinates manually after getting them from other sources, such as Google Maps or Bing Maps.
Finding GPS Coordinates
If you are not familiar with finding GPS coordinates, refer to any of the steps below.
With Google Maps
- Go to Google Maps and search for the best area that would contain the location.
- When you find the desired location, right-click on the map and click the coordinates at the top of the list. The coordinates will be copied to your clipboard.
With Bing Maps
