What is Multi-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

What Is Multi-Factor Authentication?

Multi-factor authentication is an additional security option that requires additional information/hardware beyond their username and password, such as through an SMS text, email verification code, authenticator apps, etc.

For Core HR, we currently only utilize a third-party Authenticator app where a new 6-digit security code is generated every 30 seconds that the user needs to enter in addition to their username and password. If the user does not have enough time to enter a security code, they can wait for a new security code to be automatically generated to try to enter. Each security code can only be used once.

What Is an Authentication Code?

An authentication code is a 6-digit security code generated every 30 seconds by the Authenticator app that the user would need to enter in addition to their username and password. To retrieve this code, the user would launch the authenticator app from the same device initially configured with multi-factor authentication. If the user has multiple site authentications within their Authenticator app, the listing for Core HR should say "Arcoro Identity" with their username and web address.

Why Am I Being Asked for This?

Multi-factor authentication has been required by your administrators in an effort to increase security for you and the system.

What if I Am Unable to Provide My Authentication Code?

Your administrator can reset your multi-factor configuration so that on your next login you will be instructed to download the app and set up your multi-factor authentication again.

You can also use any of the recovery codes initially provided when setting up multi-factor authentication.

How Do I Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication?

  1. After signing in, you will be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication for increased security when signing in to the software. If you do not already have an Authenticator installed, download the appropriate application onto your Android/iOS device. When ready, click Recovery Codes.
