AccountLinx Export Errors due to Warnings from Payroll/Accounting Software

When exporting from AccountLinx, you may receive errors from your payroll/accounting that it could not accept the time data and a message about why. These errors vary but are generally easy to remedy in AccountLinx or your payroll/accounting software. Payroll/accounting software will be referred to as "payroll software" for brevity.

In the example below, the error message indicates that Sage 100 could not accept the data as additional information is required.

Cause

These errors are generally due to missing data that your payroll/accounting requires from AccountLinx or limitations on the time data that AccountLinx cannot circumvent. The error message of the "Export Progress" window should hopefully provide sufficient information on where to address the issue.

Solution

As there are a variety of potential errors, we will focus on common errors experienced in AccountLinx.

Specific Combinations of Data

One instance of errors is due to certain components of the time data not being compatible. For example, some payroll software can force only specific cost codes to be used with a job for accurate job costing.

In these instances, you must perform either of the following depending on what is appropriate:

  • Make the modifications in your payroll software to accept the combination of data.
  • Adjust the time record in ExakTime Connect with an acceptable location and cost code combination.

Additional Required Data

Another instance of errors is due to additional required data if other data is used for a time record. For example, when trying to export time data for a "Certified Location", you may be required to provide additional data such as a "Class Code".

In these instances, you should review your mappings in AccountLinx and ensure that the appropriate data is entered. If the mapping windows do not provide the necessary fields, you may need to review the AccountLinx exporter settings and enable the setting to make the necessary field appear in your mapping window.
