Setting Up AccountLinx for Vista by Viewpoint (Formerly Viewpoint Construction Software)

With AccountLinx, you can export your employees' time data from ExakTime Connect into a compatible file for Vista by Viewpoint (formerly Viewpoint Construction Software). As Vista may be customized to fit your company's needs, the default AccountLinx export for Vista may not match your Vista setup exactly. Please read through this article before setting up AccountLinx to understand what is needed.

If you have any questions or concerns during setup and/or use, you can contact us with the "Request Support" link at the top of the page and we will try to assist as best as possible. Keep in mind, however, that we are not Viewpoint support. We will try to help you as much as we can, but there are aspects of Vista that are out of our area of expertise and your questions may be better answered by Viewpoint support or your trusted contact to answer/assist.

Selecting Vista as your Exporter

  1. Go to Tools and click Exporter Settings...
  2. The Exporter Settings window should open. Click Select Exporter...
  3. A window with a list of available exporters should open. Select "Viewpoint Construction Software" and click OK.

AccountLinx Settings Unique to Vista

The Vista export for AccountLinx offers a variety of settings when exporting your time data to help tailor the time data to your company's needs. These settings are unique to AccountLinx and will not affect ExakTime Connect or Mobile. If any of the settings offered do not sound familiar, you may not be using the setting in Vista and can leave it as <None>.

  1. Go to Tools and click Exporter Settings...
  2. The Exporter Settings window should open. Click Configure... to open the 'Settings' window.
    • Default Earning Codes

      • Overtime - Enter the overtime hours code as used in Vista.
      • Overtime2 - Enter the overtime 2 (doubletime) hours code as used in Vista.
    • Use Alternative Earning Codes

This allows particular employees, locations, or cost codes to have an alternate set of earning codes when exported. The related mapping screen will show fields to enter the earning code that should be associated with exported time records. If an entity does not have an alternate earning code, it will use the default earning code instead.
    • Other Options
      • Pay Class - Specify the entity the pay class should be associated with. The related mapping screen will have additional fields for you to complete.
    • Export Error Options
      • Employee/Location/Cost Code Mapping Required - If an entity is not mapped, it will flag as an error during the export process and prevent the record from being exported to the export file.
    • Export File Options
      • Add header row to output file - Enable to add a header row to the export file.
      • Export Work Orders - Enable to export work order locations.
      • Display Pre-Export Screen on Export -  This option currently has no effect on your AccountLinx export and can be ignored.
  3. Click OK on the Configuration window and click OK on the Exporter Settings window to return to the main page of AccountLinx.

General Use of AccountLinx

After setting up the configuration of AccountLinx to better match Vista in the previous section, you will need to:

  • Map your entities so any ExakTime entity for a time record will export with the equivalent Vista entity and fill in any relevant fields enabled in the previous section. Refer to the following article if you are unfamiliar with mapping your data in AccountLinx.
  • After mapping your entities, you can export your time data to import into Vista. Refer to the following article if you are unfamiliar with exporting time data from AccountLinx.

While you can manipulate the exported data after it has been exported, it is highly discouraged as it can result in data discrepancies when double-checking any data.

How to Import Time Data into Vista

It is recommended to consult Viewpoint for further assistance with importing and using the time data as they are more knowledgeable of utilizing their system.
