Arcoro has updated its products to comply with the recent executive orders at the federal level.
Overview
Executive Order 14173 called "Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity" rescinded Executive Order 11246, which required and allowed federal government contractors and subcontractors to prepare affirmative action plans based on race and gender. The new EO also includes challenges to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs generally, although those provisions are currently subject to various legal challenges.
With the rescission of EO 11246, we have removed all references to affirmative action and diversity in the application process. Some states still require the tracking of race and gender information for applicants, or a company may still want the information to confirm non-discrimination in the hiring process, but if not, many employers will not want to continue to ask the race and gender questions of applicants. For employees, this information is still required for EEO-1 reporting purposes currently.
What does this mean to you?
Within the Applicant Tracking system and Onboarding, the voluntary surveys have received updated language related to the collection of information, such as Race and Sex.
Within all our products, the use of “Gender” has been updated to “Sex”. The drop-down selection options remain within Core HR.
What to expect
The language referenced in the surveys pertaining to affirmative action, diversity, and gender was replaced or removed from the survey.
If you no longer need to collect the Race and Sex questions on your voluntary survey, you may update your application templates to remove this section of the survey.
You can refer to our support articles for:
- How to remove this section from your application templates in the Applicant Tracking System
- Onboarding Settings
If removing the EEO questionnaire in onboarding settings, the additional visualization questions within the manager workflow in onboarding will no longer be required.
With the changes, this can impact exports that are configured to look for “gender” vs. “sex” within integrations. If that is something your integration is included with, please make sure you update your file integrations. The Onboarding open API will be updated to reflect this new value as well, which will impact any API integrations using our open API sources.
