Leading up to your organization's open/annual enrollment, it is important to review and update your system to ensure a successful enrollment.
We offer a video training that covers this topic on Arcoro Learning.
New Employees
- Employee demographic information is used to determine benefit eligibility or provide carriers with critical information to determine eligibility for some benefits, such as age-based benefits.
- Make sure any new hires have been fully processed from the "New Hires" tile of the Admin homepage and have an effective date for eligibility for benefits, consistent with your organization's waiting period rules.
- Review your global waiting period rules that can affect all employees in your system and will directly affect the benefit eligibility date they are assigned. With 13 different rule options that can span days or months and utilize eligibility rules, you can create rules that accommodate employees in various departments, states, and other locations.
- If employees gain benefits immediately on their hire date, then you can create a waiting period rule where employees gain benefits "0" days from their hire date.
Terminated Employees
- Administrators should complete all employee terminations before the open enrollment event to prevent terminated employees from being processed with benefit eligibility for the new benefit package year, and benefit terminations are passed to carriers.
- If an employee had benefits, they should be terminated from the "Benefits" screen of their employee record. If you are unfamiliar with the process, you can refer to our article here.
