Reviewing resumes is one of the most time-consuming parts of the hiring process, and it compounds quickly at volume. When a job posting attracts dozens or hundreds of applicants, recruiters and hiring managers face the same manual task for each one: open the resume, read through it, mentally map it against the job requirements, and decide whether to advance the candidate. Resumes vary widely in format, length, and how clearly they surface relevant experience — so the effort required is inconsistent, and the risk of overlooking a qualified candidate is real, especially when formats or terminology don’t match what a reviewer expects.
This feature release introduces an AI-generated candidate snapshot directly in the ATS candidate list. When a recruiter or hiring manager opens a job and views the list of applicants, the system automatically reads each uploaded resume and surfaces a concise, plain-language summary of the candidate's resume without requiring the reviewer to open the full document.
The AI Snapshot keeps the recruiter in control. It surfaces information, not decisions. There are no automated scores, no rankings, and no candidates filtered out by the system. The goal is to help hiring teams move through their applicant list faster and more consistently, while the humans involved make every call.
Enhancements
The AI Snapshot appears on the candidate list for a job (Jobs > Job detail > Candidate list). For each applicant who has uploaded a resume, the system automatically processes the resume and displays a summary alongside the candidate’s record. No additional navigation or manual trigger is required — the snapshot can be accessed inline.
The snapshot is visible only to users with the ATS permission to view candidates and update their status in the hiring workflow. Users without this permission will not see the snapshot, even if they can access other parts of the job record.
What This Feature Does
- AI Candidate Snapshot — For each applicant on the candidate list, the system reads the uploaded resume and generates a 3–4 sentence plain-language summary as well as lists their skills.
- Skills extraction from resume — The system parses each resume to identify and store the candidate’s skills, which are then shown with the last time the user used those skills.
- Permission-controlled visibility — A dedicated permission controls which ATS users can see the AI Snapshot. System administrators can assign or restrict access to ensure the snapshot is visible only to the users who are authorized to review and advance candidates in the hiring workflow.
- The permission is named "View AI Resume Snapshot"
- Error handling — If the system is unable to generate a snapshot for a candidate — due to an unreadable resume format, a missing resume, or a service issue the button to open the snapshot is not shown on the candidate row in the candidates list.
What This Feature Does Not Do
The AI Snapshot is intentionally scoped to information surfacing, not candidate evaluation. The following are explicitly out of scope for this release:
- No numeric scores or rankings — Candidates are not scored, ranked, or sorted by the AI. The snapshot provides information; the recruiter makes the decision.
- No automated filtering — The system does not remove candidates from the applicant list or advance them automatically based on AI output.
- No snapshot on the candidate profile — The AI Snapshot appears in the candidate list only, not on the individual candidate profile page.
Interactions with Other Features
The AI Snapshot works from the resume attached to the candidate’s ATS application. For Indeed EasyApply applicants, the resume is already parsed by Lightcast as part of the EasyApply workflow, so no additional parsing step is required for those candidates. For other applicants, the resume must be uploaded to the application for a snapshot to be generated. Jobs with well-structured descriptions that include clear skills and experience requirements will produce more meaningful snapshots.
Availability & Access
The AI Resume and Application Scanner is available to Arcoro ATS users. Access to the AI Snapshot within the ATS is controlled by a permission that must be assigned in system administration.
- Hiring Managers and HR Admins with the AI Snapshot permission — can see the AI-generated candidate snapshot on the candidate list for any job they have access to.
- System Administrators — can assign or restrict the AI Snapshot permission for users in the ATS.
ATS users who do not have the AI Snapshot permission will not see the snapshot even if they can otherwise view the candidate list. Candidates and applicants do not see any AI-generated content about themselves.
The AI Snapshot permission must be assigned by a system administrator to the appropriate user roles before those users can see the snapshot. The feature will not be visible to any user until the permission is granted.
Organizations should review their internal policies and any applicable state or federal employment law guidance on the use of AI in hiring before broadly enabling snapshot visibility for their recruiting teams.
FAQs
- Does the AI score or rank candidates?
- No. The AI Snapshot provides a plain-language summary of how a candidate’s background relates to the job requirements. It does not generate numeric scores, rankings, or recommendations. All hiring decisions remain with the recruiter or hiring manager.
- Who can see the AI Snapshot?
- Only ATS users who have been granted the AI Snapshot permission by a system administrator. This is typically Hiring Managers and HR Admins who are authorized to view candidates and update their workflow status. Other ATS users, and candidates themselves, will not see the snapshot.
- What happens if a candidate hasn’t uploaded a resume?
- No snapshot will be generated for candidates without an uploaded resume. The snapshot section will not appear or will indicate that no resume is available to process.
- What if the AI can’t read a resume?
- If the system cannot process a resume — due to format, file quality, or a service issue — the snapshot button is not shown to recruiters.
- Does this work for Indeed EasyApply applicants?
- Yes. Indeed EasyApply resumes are already parsed by Lightcast as part of the EasyApply workflow, so those candidates are handled the same way as direct applicants who upload a resume.
