When creating an evaluation, you can allow comments from approvers to be visible on the final evaluation to provide additional detail. Approver comments are visible to evaluation creators (e.g., managers) and HR users according to existing evaluation access rules; visibility to employees is configurable.
This will not currently show rejection comments on the final evaluation. If an approver rejects an evaluation, the comments can be seen by a manager by just going to the evaluation in the "Evaluations Due" tab and clicking the "Not Approved" link in the status column.
Once an evaluation goes through all approvals, only comments from approving users will show on the finalized and completed evaluation.
Enabling Approver Comments
- Go to Performance Admin in the menu bar and click Add/Edit Evaluations from your Performance module.
- Click Add Evaluation Form to create a new evaluation, or click ... under the Action column and click Evaluation Details or click Copy to copy and edit an existing evaluation.
- Enable "Display approver comments on evaluation" under "Advanced Settings". This checkbox will be unchecked by default.

How It Appears to Approvers
Approvers can enter optional free-text comments when reviewing an evaluation as normal, in addition to choosing approve/deny. If there are multiple approvers, each comment will be listed.
Where Comments are Visible
An approver's comments will appear in two locations:
"Finalize Evaluation" Step
Approved evaluations display approver(s) comments on the final evaluation record in a "Approver Comments" section below the main evaluation section(s). When there are multiple approvers, each approver’s name, date, and comment are shown. The content is read-only.

Finalized Evaluation PDF
The approval comments will display on the PDF version of the Evaluation after it has been finalized in an "Approver Comments" section below the main evaluation section(s). When there are multiple approvers, each approver’s name, date, and comment are shown. The content is read-only.
