Spectrum Troubleshooting: Org Structure

These three messages come from the same required-field check that runs on every employee before Arcoro writes it to Viewpoint Spectrum. The employee is missing one of the org structure values Spectrum needs on the employee record: their facility, their department, or their business unit.

When any of these is missing, that employee does not sync at all, but the rest of the batch is not affected. One of the three messages is a naming trap. It says "Company Code" but the field it is actually checking is labeled Facility in the source system, so read the "Occurs when" column below carefully before you go looking for a field called "Company" or "Company Code" in the source system.

Error Messages

Company Code is required. The Employee will not be Synced. Correct the data in the source system and execute the Sync again.Write (Arcoro to Spectrum)The employee's Facility value is blank. Despite the message wording, this check does not look at anything labeled "Company" or "Company Code" in the source system. It checks the employee's Facility field, which Arcoro writes into Spectrum's Company Code field on the employee record.Record skippedSet the employee's Facility (Facility Code) value in the source system.
Department Code is required. The Employee will not be Synced. Correct the data in the source system and execute the Sync again.Write (Arcoro to Spectrum)The employee's Department value is blank.Record skippedSet the employee's Department value in the source system.
Entity is required as entities are enabled. The employee will not be synced. Correct the data in Core HR and execute the sync again.Write (Arcoro to Spectrum)Only checked when the connector's Entities Enabled? setting is turned on. When that setting is off, this message can never appear. When it is on, this check fires if the employee's Business Unit value is blank. In Core HR this is the employee's Business Unit field.Record skippedSet the employee's Business Unit value in Core HR, or confirm the Entities Enabled? setting should be on.

Confirming the Error

  1. Open the sync execution in the Viewpoint Spectrum connector in Sync History.
  2. Open the step that writes Employees to Viewpoint Spectrum.
  3. Find the employee row reported, or scan the Errors column for a non-zero count on the Employees entity.
  4. Open the errors list for that entity row and match on the fixed part of the sentence, for example "Company Code is required" or "Entity is required as entities are enabled", not on any values in quotes.
  5. One employee can show more than one of these messages at the same time. The check does not stop at the first problem it finds, so an employee missing both Facility and Department will show both messages in the same errors list. Read the whole list for that employee before determining the fix.

Resolving the Error

Company Code is Required

  1. In the source system, open the employee record and find their Facility (Facility Code) field. Do not look for a field literally named "Company" or "Company Code"; the message names the Spectrum field this value becomes, not the source field name.
  2. Enter or correct the Facility value for the employee.
  3. If the employee also has deduction or fringe benefit errors, check the Facility value again first. Facility doubles as the company lookup key for deduction and fringe codes, so an incorrect Facility value can cause benefit and fringe errors on the same employee in addition to, or instead of, this one.

Department Code is Required

  1. In the source system, open the employee record and find their Department field.
  2. Enter or correct the Department value for the employee.

Entity Is Required as Entities Are Enabled

  1. Confirm whether the connector is meant to have entities enabled. This is controlled by the Entities Enabled? setting on the connector's configuration.
  2. If entities should be enabled, open the employee record in Core HR and set their Business Unit field.
  3. If you do not use entities, the Entities Enabled? setting should be turned off; escalate a setting change if you cannot make it yourself.

After correcting the data, re-run the sync and confirm the employee no longer appears in the Employees entity's Errors list for this step.

When to Escalate

If any of the following occur, you may need to reach out to Arcoro support for additional assistance.

  • You confirms Facility, Department, or Business Unit is populated correctly and the same message still appears after a re-run.
  • The Entities Enabled? setting needs to change and you cannot change it yourself.
  • The message text in the log does not match any of the three above exactly.
  • The employee shows a benefit or fringe code error alongside a Company Code is required message. Fixing Facility may not be enough by itself; the deduction or fringe code lookup depends on that same value and may need a developer or your Spectrum administrator to confirm the code exists for that company.
