Some work on a certified job happens away from the jobsite, like fabricating materials in your shop. You can track that time against the certified job for job costing while keeping it off your certified payroll reports. To do this, you mark the labor class used for that work as excluded from certified reporting.
Once a labor class is excluded, any time tracked under it is automatically left out of these reports:
- WH-347 (PDF and CSV)
- LCP Tracker CSV export
Excluded hours are still paid normally and still count toward the job for job costing. Only your certified payroll reports change.
Before You Begin
- You need access to manage labor classes in Arcoro Time. The setting cannot be changed from Arcoro Payroll.
- Decide which labor class will cover the off-site work. The setting applies to every hour tracked under a class, so if your crews do both jobsite and shop work under the same class, create a separate class for the shop work first.
Enabling The Setting in Arcoro Time
- In Arcoro Time, go to Manage and click Labor Class.
- Click Add Labor Class to create a new labor class for the off-site work (for example, "Shop Fabrication"), or click the pencil icon of the existing class to exclude.
- Enable Exclude from Certified Reporting while editing/creating the labor class.
- Save the labor class.
The change carries over to Arcoro Payroll automatically.
Confirm the Setting in Arcoro Payroll
- In Arcoro Payroll, expand Setup and click Labor Classifications from the side navigation.
- Find the labor class in question and check that it says "Yes" under the "Exclude from Certified Reporting" column. This column is read-only in Arcoro Payroll. To change it, go back to Arcoro Time.
To see all excluded classes at once, type "yes" in the search box or click the "Exclude from Certified Reporting" header to sort the data.
Have Employees Use the Class for Off-Site Work
When employees track time for off-site work on a certified job, they select the excluded labor class, just as they would select any other class. Employees are still required to select a labor class on certified jobs.
Run Your Certified Payroll Report
- In Arcoro Payroll, click Reports from the side navigation.
- Click Certified Payroll.
- Select the Certified Job, the Format, and the Pay Day.
- Generate the report. Hours tracked under excluded labor classes are left out automatically. You no longer need to delete those rows by hand.
Please Note
- New labor classes are included by default. A class shows up on certified reports until you turn on Exclude from Certified Reporting.
- Pay is not affected. Employees are paid for excluded hours the same way as before.
- Job costing is not affected. Excluded hours still count against the certified job.
- Prevailing wage is controlled separately. Whether a class is paid at a prevailing wage rate depends on whether a pay rate table is attached to it in Wage Determination, not on this setting. If you do not want the off-site work paid at the prevailing rate, do not attach a rate table to that class.
Troubleshooting
Excluded Hours Are Still Showing on My Certified Payroll Report
- Go to Setup > Labor Classifications in Arcoro Payroll and check that the class shows "Yes" in the Exclude from Certified Reporting column. If it shows No, turn the setting on in Arcoro Time and save.
- Check that the employee selected the excluded labor class on their time record. Hours tracked under a different class will still appear.
- Generate the report again after confirming the setting.
I Cannot Find the Setting in Arcoro Payroll
The setting can only be turned on or off in Arcoro Time. Arcoro Payroll shows it on the Labor Classifications page so you can confirm it, but you cannot edit it there.
Hours I Need on the Report Are Missing
Check whether the labor class on those time records is marked Yes for Exclude from Certified Reporting. If that work should be reported, either turn the setting off for that class in Arcoro Time or have employees use a different class for jobsite work.
