Troubleshooting Core HR Integration Error: Required Field Missing (Record Level)

Three error sentences in this family each occur in several different record types, not just one. The same words, for example, "Missing Name," can appear under a Termination Reason record, a Pay Group record, an Occupation record, an I9 Status record, or a Rate Code record, and the sentence itself never says which one. The record that is missing the field is not written to Core HR at all; everything else in that sync step still runs. You first have to work out which record type logged the message, using the entity row in Sync History, not the sentence text.

Confirming the Error

  1. Open the sync execution in question in Sync History.
  2. Find the Core HR connector step for that execution.
  3. Look at the per-entity counts on that step. Core HR runs Departments, Employee Types, I9 Statuses, Job Codes, Occupations, Pay Groups, Rate Codes, and Termination Reasons as separate entity rows, each with its own Errors, Warnings, Information, Failures, Added, Updated, and Unchanged columns.
  4. The entity row the message appears under is what tells you the record type. The sentence itself does not name it, so do not guess from the wording alone.
  5. Open the Errors list for that entity row and match on the fixed part of the sentence shown in the table above, ignoring any values shown in quotes, since this family does not use quoted placeholders.
  6. A non-zero Failures count on this step is not related to these three messages. All three always log as an Error against the record and are counted in that entity's Errors column, never in Failures.

Resolving the Error

Termination Reason

  1. In Arcoro, open the Termination Reason record identified in the error.
  2. Enter a value in the Name field.
  3. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for Termination Reasons.

Pay Group

  1. In Arcoro, open the Pay Group record identified in the error.
  2. Enter a value in the Name field.
  3. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for Pay Groups.

Occupation

  1. In Arcoro, open the Occupation record identified in the error.
  2. Enter a value in the Name field.
  3. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for Occupations.

I9 Status

  1. In Arcoro, open the I9 Status record identified in the error.
  2. Enter a value in the Name field.
  3. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for I9 Statuses.

Rate Code

  1. In Arcoro, open the Rate Code record identified in the error.
  2. If the error text reads "Missing Name," enter a value in the Description field. This record type has no Name field, so the fix is always Description regardless of which of the two messages appears.
  3. If the error text reads "Missing Code property," enter a value in the Code field.
  4. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for Rate Codes.

Job Code

  1. In Arcoro, open the Job Code record identified in the error.
  2. If the error text reads "Missing Description," enter a value in the Description field.
  3. If the error text reads "Missing Code property," enter a value in the Code field.
  4. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for Job Codes.

Department

  1. In Arcoro, open the Department record identified in the error.
  2. If the error text reads "Missing Description," enter a value in the Description field.
  3. If the error text reads "Missing Code property," enter a value in the Code field.
  4. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for Departments.

Employee Type

  1. In Arcoro, open the Employee Type record identified in the error.
  2. Enter a value in the Name field. This record type has no Description field, so the fix is always Name even though the error text reads "Missing Description."
  3. Save, then re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of Errors and into Added or Updated for Employee Types.

When to Escalate

If any of the following occur, you may need to reach out to Arcoro support for additional assistance.

  • You confirm the field named in the Fix column above is already populated and the same error still logs after a re-run.
  • The entity row in Sync History is not one of Departments, Employee Types, I9 Statuses, Job Codes, Occupations, Pay Groups, Rate Codes, or Termination Reasons. This article does not cover that entity.
  • The logged sentence does not match the fixed wording of any row in the table above, even after ignoring quoted values.
  • The connector step shows a non-zero Failures count. That is a different condition from the record-level Errors described in this article.
