Core HR keeps Unions, Union Locals, Union Classes, Workers' Compensation Codes, Occupations, Skill Levels, and Certified Classes as their own small lists, separate from the employee record. Each list syncs to Core HR on its own, before employees sync, because an employee can only be linked to a value that already exists in Core HR.
Every message in this article means one thing happened to one list value. That single value was not written to Core HR. It does not affect the other values in the same list, and it does not stop the employee sync. Any employee who is supposed to use that value will simply be missing it, or keep whatever value they already had, until the underlying list value is fixed and resynced.
Error Messages
| Message text | Direction | Occurs when | Outcome | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Union Display Value is required. The record will not be added to Core HR. Employee's associated with this Union will not have their Union set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Union's Display Value field is empty, missing, or only whitespace. | Record skipped | Enter a Display Value for the Union in the source data. |
| Union '[union display value]' exceeds Core HR's maximum supported length of 150. The Union will not be saved. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Display Value is not empty, but once Core HR's facility code suffix is added to it, the combined value is longer than 150 characters. | Record skipped | Shorten the Union Display Value in the source data so it fits within 150 characters after the facility code is added, then resync. |
| A Union with a Display Value of '[union display value]' has been sent to Core HR multiple times. Only the first Union with this Display Value will be saved. Employee's associated with any of the duplicate Display Values will not have their Union set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Display Value is not empty and is within the length limit, but it matches (ignoring letter case) another Union Display Value already sent earlier in the same sync run. This does not occur against Unions already saved in Core HR from an earlier sync; those are recognized and left unchanged with no error. | Record skipped | Remove or rename the duplicate Union so only one record uses that Display Value, then resync. |
| Union Local Display Value is required. The record will not be added to Core HR. Employee's associated with this Union Local will not have their Union Local set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Union Local's Display Value field is empty, missing, or only whitespace. | Record skipped | Enter a Display Value for the Union Local in the source data. |
| Union Local '[union local display value]' exceeds Core HR's maximum supported length of 150. The Union will not be saved. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Display Value is not empty, but once Core HR's facility code suffix is added to it, the combined value is longer than 150 characters. | Record skipped | Shorten the Union Local Display Value in the source data so it fits within 150 characters after the facility code is added, then resync. |
| A Union Local with a Display Value of '[union local display value]' has been sent to Core HR multiple times. Only the first Union Local with this Display Value will be saved. Employee's associated with any of the duplicate Display Values will not have their Union Local set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Display Value is not empty and is within the length limit, but it matches (ignoring letter case) another Union Local Display Value already sent earlier in the same sync run. Does not occur against Union Locals already saved in Core HR from an earlier sync. | Record skipped | Remove or rename the duplicate Union Local so only one record uses that Display Value, then resync. |
| A Union Class with a Display Value of '[union class display value]' has been sent to Core HR multiple times. Only the first Union Class with this Display Value will be saved. Employee's associated with any of the duplicate Union Classes will not have their Union Class set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Union Class's Display Value is not empty, but it matches (ignoring letter case) another Union Class Display Value already sent earlier in the same sync run. | Record skipped | Remove or rename the duplicate Union Class so only one record uses that Display Value, then resync. |
| Missing Display Value. Item will not be synced to Core HR. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Union Class's Display Value field is empty, missing, or only whitespace. This exact message text is reused for other Core HR entities elsewhere in the sync platform; in the Union Class list, this is the only place it appears. | Record skipped | Enter a Display Value for the Union Class in the source data. |
| A Workers Compensation Code with a Description of '[workers compensation description]' has been sent to Core HR multiple times. Only the first Workers Compensation Code with this Description will be saved. Employee's associated with any of the duplicate Description(s) will not have their Workers Compensation Code set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The record has a Code value (a record with no Code is stopped earlier by the required-Code check below and never reaches this check). The Description used for the comparison, or the Code if Description is blank, matches (ignoring letter case) another Workers Compensation record already sent earlier in the same sync run. | Record skipped | Make the Description (or Code, if Description is blank) unique for this Workers Compensation Code in the source data, then resync. |
| Missing Code. Item will not be synced to Core HR. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Workers Compensation Code's Code field is empty, missing, or only whitespace. This check runs before anything else in the record, including the duplicate check above. | Record skipped | Enter a Code for the Workers Compensation record in the source data. |
| A Occupation with a Name of '[occupation name]' has been sent to Core HR multiple times. Only the first Occupation with this Name will be saved. Employee's associated with any of the duplicate Names will not have their Occupation set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The record has a Name value (a record with a blank Name is stopped by a separate, earlier required-field check and never reaches this one). The Name matches (ignoring letter case) another Occupation Name already sent earlier in the same sync run. | Record skipped | Make the Occupation Name unique in the source data, then resync. |
| Skill Level '[skill level or craft]' exceeds Core HR's maximum supported length of 150. The Skill Level will not be saved. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Skill Level or Craft field is not empty, and its length by itself (no facility code is added for this list) is more than 150 characters. | Record skipped | Shorten the Skill Level or Craft value in the source data to 150 characters or fewer, then resync. |
| A Skill with a Level or Craft of '[skill level or craft]' has been sent to Core HR multiple times. Only the first Skill with this Level or Craft will be saved. Employee's associated with any of the duplicate Level or Craft will not have their Skill set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Skill Level or Craft value is not empty and is within the length limit, but it matches (ignoring letter case) another Skill Level or Craft value already sent earlier in the same sync run. | Record skipped | Remove or rename the duplicate Skill Level or Craft so only one record uses that value, then resync. |
| Skill Level is required. The record will not be added to Core HR. Employee's associated with this Skill Level will not have their Skill Level set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Skill Level or Craft field is empty, missing, or only whitespace. | Record skipped | Enter a Skill Level or Craft value in the source data. |
| Certified Class '[certified class display value]' exceeds Core HR's maximum supported length of 150. The Certified Class will not be saved. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Display Value is not empty, but once Core HR's facility code suffix is added to it, the combined value is longer than 150 characters. | Record skipped | Shorten the Certified Class Display Value in the source data so it fits within 150 characters after the facility code is added, then resync. |
| A Certified Class with a Display Value of '[certified class display value]' has been sent to Core HR multiple times. Only the first Certified Class with this Display Value will be saved. Employee's associated with any of the duplicate Display Values will not have their Certified Class set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Display Value is not empty and is within the length limit, but it matches (ignoring letter case) another Certified Class Display Value already sent earlier in the same sync run. Does not occur against Certified Classes already saved in Core HR from an earlier sync. | Record skipped | Remove or rename the duplicate Certified Class so only one record uses that Display Value, then resync. |
| Certified Class Display Value is required. The record will not be added to Core HR. Employee's associated with this Certified Class will not have their Certified Class set correctly. Correct the source data and run the sync again. | Write (Arcoro to Core HR) | The Certified Class's Display Value field is empty, missing, or only whitespace. | Record skipped | Enter a Display Value for the Certified Class in the source data. |
Confirming the Error
- Open the sync execution in question from Sync History.
- Open the step that has Core HR as its destination connector.
- Find the entity row for the list of message names: Unions, Union Locals, Union Classes, Compensation Codes, Occupations, Skill Levels, or Certified Classes.
- Check the Errors column for that row. A non-zero Errors count means at least one of the messages in this article, or another error, occurred for that list.
- Open the entity row's error list and match on the fixed wording of the sentence, ignoring the value in quotes, against the Message text column above.
- The Failures column is not used by any of the checks in this article. Every message here is reached by skipping the one record, not by a failure. If Failures is non-zero for one of these entities, that is a different problem and should be escalated.
- The Added and Updated columns for that entity will be lower than the number of source records sent by the number of records that appear in the error list.
Resolving the Error
Required Display Value, Name, or Code Missing
- Identify the record named in the error (Union, Union Local, Union Class, Workers Compensation Code, Occupation, Skill Level, or Certified Class).
- In the source system that feeds this Core HR sync step, open that record and populate the required field: Display Value for Union, Union Local, Union Class, and Certified Class; Skill Level or Craft for Skill; Code for Workers Compensation Code; Name for Occupation.
- Re-run the sync and confirm the record no longer appears in the Errors list for that entity, and that its Added or Updated count increased.
Value Too Long
- Identify the record named in the error and the value quoted in the message.
- In the source system, shorten that value. For Union, Union Local, and Certified Class, leave room for the facility code that Core HR appends; keep the source value well under 150 characters if you have more than one facility.
- Re-run the sync and confirm the record moves out of the Errors list.
Duplicate Value Sent in the Same Sync Run
- Identify the record named in the error and the duplicated value quoted in the message.
- In the source system, find every record that produces that same value for this list (case does not matter) and either delete the extra ones or change the value so it is unique.
- Re-run the sync and confirm only one record with that value appears, and that it moved out of the Errors list.
When to Escalate
If any of the following occur, you may need to reach out to Arcoro support for additional assistance.
- The record is fixed in the source system and resynced, but the same message still appears for it.
- The Failures column is non-zero for one of these entities; that is not covered by this article.
- The message text in the log does not match any row in the table above, which means it may be coming from a different family or directly from Core HR.
- You cannot identify or edit the source record that is producing the value, for example if it is generated automatically by an upstream system rather than entered directly.
