Troubleshooting Integration Error: Ethnicity is a required field

Issue

When attempting a sync, you may receive the following error:

"Ethnicity is a required field."

Resolution

  1. Log in to Core HR.
  2. Search for the employee listed in the sync log with the ethnicity error.
  3. Go to Demographics > EEOC / Additional Info.
  4. Check the Ethnicity field:
    • If empty:
      • Assign an appropriate ethnicity value.
      • Save the employee record.
      • Resync the data.
  5. If an ethnicity is already assigned and the error in the sync log is present:
    • Go to Ethnicity Field Value Setup.
      • Go to Main Menu > Setup > Setup Properties > Field Value Setup > Ethnicities.
    • Verify that each entry has a Code, Description, and Ethnicity Category. If any of those are missing, add them. For entries marked as "Other", example below, is missing the Ethnicity Category. Core HR does not have an Ethnicity Category of "Other" so the customer needs to confirm which Ethnicity Category should be assigned.
    • Update the setup accordingly.
    • Reattempt the sync—the error should now be resolved.
