Walkthrough for Setting Up and Using Your ZK Time Clock

The ZK Time Clock allows you to use a physical device for your employees to track their work time as they start and end their work days. The ZK Time Clock can be configured to communicate with your Core HR account, allowing you to set it up at appropriate locations convenient for your employees. To ensure a smooth set up and experience, we have listed a series of articles to get you started. 

Powering Your Time Clock

The first step in connecting the Time Clock to your system is to unpack the clock from the box, plug it in, and confirm that the device powers up successfully.  In most cases, it is easier to perform the Time Clock configuration from your desktop and then move the clock to its final location once all of the configuration steps have been completed. If the clock boots up successfully, you can begin to set it up.

Understanding your Time Clock

  1. Display
  2. Keypad/Function Pad
    1. M - Manager Key. Used to confirm selections.
    2. F1-F4 - Function Keys. Used to switch between the Clock-In and Clock-Out functions once your Time Clock has been set up. (Break-In and Break-Out can be functions is enabled.)
    3. Arrow Keys - Used to navigate the menu of the Time Clock.
    4. ESC - Escape the current menu.

Initial Set Up for ZK Time Clock

  1. Understanding ZK Time Clock Hardware and Accessing Admin Menu - Setting up and using the ZK Time Clock requires some understanding of the physical buttons, menu layout, and how to access the admin menu.
  2. Configuring Local Network Settings for ZK Time Clock - The ZK Time Clock must be configured to communicate with the internet. 
  3. Configuring ZK Time Clock to URL Address - When the ZK Time Clock is able to connect to the internet, you must specify the URL that the ZK Time Clock will connect to.
  4. Configure Time & Daylight Savings on ZK Time Clock - The date and time settings of the ZK Time Clock must be set up for your organization/region.

Register the Clock on Core HR

  1. Adding a New ZK Time Clock - The ZK Time Clock must be added to your Core HR account so the data goes to the right destination.
  2. Testing/Confirming ZK Time Clock Connectivity - The connection of the ZK Time Clock should be confirmed before it is set up for your employees to use.

Setup User Accounts

  1. Activate and Load Users to ZK Time Clock for Core HR - When the ZK Time Clock has been set up with an internet connection and it has been added to your Core HR account, you can set up and load the appropriate users into the Time Clock.
  2. Enrolling Fingerprints/Cards/PINs for ZK Time Clock in Core HR - The ZK Time Clock can be used to set up keycards or enroll fingerprints for your employees to clock in/out with.

How Employees Clock In

  1. Clocking In/Out On Your ZK Time Clock for Core HR - With everything set up, you can show your employees how to clock in/out with the ZK Time Clock.
