"Time and Labor Mgm" is an option in Core HR where you can track an employee's work hours, their paid time off, and work expenses. Setting up and using any of these options is done within their respective menus and may also require additional setup in other areas of Core HR.
Navigating to Time and Labor Modules
Expand 'Settings', expand 'Time and Labor Mgmt', then click Time and Attendance from the menu.
Time and Labor Modules
The time and labor management modules are:
- Time and Attendance - This module contains the configuration and data related to recording worked hours.
- Time Off Tacking - This module contains the configuration and data related to time off hours.
- Expense Tracking - This module contains configuration and data for tracking flat dollar expenses or mileage.
Additional Configuration Outside of Time and Labor
While a bulk of the Time and Labor configuration can be done within the feature, there are some aspects that must be configured in other areas of Core HR.
Some areas you must configure are:
- Employee demographic data has been loaded.
-
Time Managers have been created and assigned to employees.
- You must set your employee(s) as managers and then assign those managers to the employees they will manage. This allows your time managers to review employee timesheets and time off requests.
-
Pay Schedules have been configured.
- Some aspects of Time and Labor are reliant on a pay schedule, such as time off accruals.

Testing Setup
Testing is an important step when implementing your Time and Labor modules. Groups take different approaches to testing; some choose to roll out the system to end users and begin recording data in tandem with their previous method to compare results. Other groups will simply create test employees and have a single admin run through the process.
Both processes have merit, but rolling it out to end users will give you a greater sampling and be more likely to catch discrepancies that may occur under specific circumstances, while having a single user go through the process with test employees means you will potentially catch issues before any of the end users interact with the process.
Regardless of the approach to testing, once some form of data has been recorded in the system, the configuration for the exports to payroll can begin.
