Relationships Field Value Setup for Core HR

The Relationship values defined within this section will determine the values available in the "Relationship" field of the Dependent and/or Beneficiary forms within the system.

Relationships can be defined as "Dependent Relationships" and/or "Beneficiary Relationships". A "Dependent Relationship" will appear in the Relationship dropdown field when an employee adds or updates a Dependent within the system. A "Beneficiary Relationship" will appear in the Relationship dropdown field when an employee adds or updates a Beneficiary within the system.

In general, "Dependent Relationships" are also valid "Beneficiary Relationships". For example, the Relationship "Spouse" is generally a "Dependent Relationship" and a "Beneficiary Relationship" since employees can have a Spouse as a Dependent and a Beneficiary. However, the converse is not always true. For example, the Relationship "Father" may be a valid "Beneficiary Relationship" but is generally not a valid "Dependent Relationship".

If you are going to upload Dependents with Data Imports, then you must define the Relationships for those dependents in this section.
