Process for Configuring a Benefit Package in Core HR

It is expected that your Benefits Package(s) will be created with the assistance of our Implementation team initially so you can discuss your needs and properly build your package(s). You can still make adjustments to your Benefit Package(s) for situations such as Open Enrollment. 

  1. Step 1 – Configure Package Properties - Configure the name, start/end dates, eligibility rules, and more for a benefit package. 
  2. Step 2 - Configure Benefits Structure - Configure the benefits and benefit plans for a benefit package.
    1. Configure Benefit
      1. Step 1 - Benefit Type - Specify the type of benefit (i.e. Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.) to determine other configuration options.
      2. Step 2 - Benefit Properties - Set up the properties of the benefit, such as the benefit name, deduction code, and various options.
      3. Step 3 - Benefit Dependencies - Specify if a benefit should be dependent on another, such as a spouse's supplemental life benefit being dependent on the employee's supplemental life benefit.
      4. Step 4 - Benefit Compensation Calculation - Set up compensation-based benefits, such as short and long-term disability benefits.
      5. Step 5 - Waiting Period Rules - Set up waiting period rules where an employee can be eligible for a benefit.
    2. Configure Plan
      1. Step 1 - Plan Properties - Set up the properties of a benefit plan, such as the plan name, carriers, eligibility, and more. 
      2. Step 2 - Coverage Levels - Set up the levels of coverage available for a benefit plan, such as Employee Only, Employee + Spouse, etc.
      3. Step 3 - Premium - Set up the premiums for a benefit plan. 
      4. Step 4 - Premium/Benefit Rules - Set up premium/benefit rules for plans that are typically dependent on compensation
      5. Step 5 - EOI - Set up evidence of insurability for benefit plans that utilize it.
      6. Step 6 - Age Reductions - Set up age reductions where an employee can receive reduced coverage depending on their age. 
      7. Step 7 - Relationship Restrictions - Set up relationship restrictions where only certain relationships can be selected for a benefit plan.
