Recruiters managing active job requisitions currently have to leave the job they are working in to add a candidate. Today, attaching a candidate to a job means navigating to the general candidate pool, searching for or creating the candidate there, and then attaching them back to the correct job. This is an extra round trip that adds friction to a common, high-frequency task and increases the risk of attaching a candidate to the wrong job.
This release adds an Add Candidate action directly to the job detail page. From there, a recruiter can search for and attach an existing candidate from the candidate pool, or quickly create a brand-new candidate, without ever leaving the job. In both cases, the candidate is automatically associated with that job, added at the Found stage with an In Process disposition, and ready for the recruiter to progress from there.
Enhancements
The Add Candidate action lets recruiters attach an existing candidate or quickly create a new one directly from the job they're working in, keeping the right job context in view throughout.
How to Access
From an "Open" or "On-Hold" job's detail page, recruiters with the appropriate permissions will see a new Add Candidate button. Selecting it opens a modal with two tabs — one to search the existing candidate pool, and one to quickly create a new candidate — both scoped to the job the recruiter started from. In addition, existing permissions are respected with the following rules:
- The "Add Candidate" button does not display if the user does not have the "Add a Candidate" permission.
- If the user has the "Add Candidate" permission and the "View Only Jobs They are Assigned to" permission enabled, the recruiter will only see candidates for jobs they are assigned.
- If the user has the "Add Candidate" permission and the "View Only Jobs They are Assigned to" permission disabled, the recruiter will be able to see all candidates from the candidate pool.
Organizations that have the Disable attaching candidate(s) to job(s) account toggle enabled will not see the new Add Candidate action on the job detail page, and their existing workflow is unaffected.
Core Capabilities
- Add Candidate action on the job detail page — A new action is available directly on the job, so recruiters can start adding a candidate without navigating elsewhere. The button is hidden entirely if the company has the Disable attaching candidate(s) to job(s) toggle enabled.
- Attach an existing candidate — Recruiters can search the candidate pool and attach a matching candidate to the current job. Search results are scoped to candidates the recruiter can actually interact with — candidates in a business unit outside the recruiter's access are not shown.
- Quick-create a new candidate — Recruiters can create a brand-new candidate from within the job, and it is automatically attached to that job — no separate attach step required. If a resume is uploaded during this quick-create flow, it is stored as an attachment on the candidate record; it is not parsed and does not generate an AI Resume Snapshot.
- Consistent starting stage and disposition — In both the existing-candidate and new-candidate flows, a candidate cannot be added in the Applied state — that status is reserved for candidates who applied directly. Candidates added through this feature always start at the Found stage with an In Process disposition. Both fields can be changed immediately afterward like any other candidate.
- Open and closed job rules respected — Candidates can only be added to open or on-hold jobs, consistent with existing job status rules elsewhere in ATS.
- Clear error handling — If a candidate can't be created or attached, the recruiter sees a clear error message and can retry without losing progress already entered in the modal.
FAQs
- Can I add a candidate to a closed job?
No. Candidates can only be added to open or on-hold jobs, matching existing job status rules.
- Will the resume I upload when quick-creating a candidate be parsed?
No. In this flow, the resume is stored as an attachment on the new candidate record. It is not parsed, and no AI Resume Snapshot is generated for it.
- Can a candidate be added directly in the Applied state?
No. Applied is reserved for candidates who applied directly. Candidates added through this feature start at Found with an In Process disposition, and the recruiter can update both afterward.
- Do I need to turn anything on to use this?
No. The Add Candidate action appears automatically for eligible users after release. If your company has disabled attaching candidates to jobs, the button will not appear, consistent with that existing setting.
- Will this change what I see in the general candidate pool?
No. This feature adds a faster entry point from the job itself. The broader candidate pool, search, sorting, and workflow experience are unchanged.
