We’re excited to introduce Timesheets, a new feature designed to make time and attendance tracking even easier. With Timesheets, users can now log their work by entering blocks of hours rather than specifying exact start and stop times.
This streamlined approach is for employees and teams who do not work fixed shifts or who prefer to summarize their daily or weekly work without the need to detail specific clock-in and clock-out moments.
Key Benefits
- Faster Time Entry - Simply input the number of hours worked; no need to track every punch in and out.
- Flexible Reporting - Ideal for project-based work, remote teams, and salaried employees with variable schedules.
- Cleaner Timesheets - Reduces errors and time spent on editing minor clock-in or clock-out inaccuracies.
- Seamless compatibility - Compatible with your existing approval workflows, overtime calculations, and reporting tools.

Timesheets vs Timecards
What is the difference?
Timecard (punch based) is the clock in and clock out method that has been the only time entry method within the Exaktime system in the past. All new employees added to Exaktime will have this method as the default
- Employees with Timecard time entry method will not appear on the Timesheets page, but will appear on the Timecard page
Timesheet (time block) is a new time entry method that allows users to enter blocks of time rather than a start stop time.
When Timesheet (time block) is selected for an employee, they can expect the following changes
- When logging into Exaktime Mobile, Timesheet employees will no longer clock in via the start/stop buttons. This screen will no longer appear to those users
- Timesheet employees will no longer be available for selection for crew clock in/outs
You can learn about the functional differences between Timesheets and Timecards from our dedicated article here.
Can an employee use both Punch based and Time Block time entry methods?
An admin can change an employee’s punch method at any point with the following considerations. For optimal user experience, it is not suggested to attempt to have an employee use both time entry methods during a pay period.
Updated Security Role Permissions
The existing permissions for "Timecards" and "My Timecards" have been updated to include the Timesheet feature. Users with existing permissions will not require any changes to their permissions to access Timesheets.
As an admin or one with elevated permission with access to Timecards, you will automatically have access to Timesheets.
If a field user had access to My Timecard, and their time entry method is changed to Timesheets, they will automatically have access to My Timesheet
My Timecard/My Timesheet
- No Access - User has no access to My Timecard/Timesheet.
- Access All - User has all available permissions for My Timecard/Timesheet.
