How to Terminate a Dependent from Benefit Coverage in Core HR

There may be times when the dependent of an employee may no longer be eligible and should be removed from the coverage.

  1. Search for and pull up the employee with the dependent to terminate.
  2. Navigate to Benefits and click Benefits.

  3. Click the benefit date range in which the dependent is enrolled.

  4. Update the election if necessary (i.e. Changing from Employee + Family to Employee + Spouse).
    • If the employee is covering multiple dependents, it is possible that the election type will not change.

  5. Un-check the dependent(s) they no longer wish to cover for the dependent table below.

  6. Click Save & Continue >>.
  7. On "Step 2 - ", check the box for "This is a mid-year change" and enter the new start date for the benefit (the date the dependent is no longer being covered)

  8. Enter the event type causing this change (i.e. "Dependent Becomes Ineligible").

  9. Click Save & Continue >>.
  10. Review the data on the"Step 3 - Confirm" tab for accuracy. Click Confirm Change if satisfied.
