Payroll administrators have historically had no advance warning when Check identifies payroll events that require awareness or action — balancing payroll runs, filing status changes, and correction activity. The only path to awareness was a reactive one: a customer noticed an unexpected debit, opened a support ticket, and Arcoro investigated after the fact.
This gap created unnecessary escalations, eroded customer trust, and placed a heavy manual monitoring burden on Arcoro’s implementation and support teams. Customers in particular experienced confusion around quarter-end balancing debits, which could move money with no prior notice, and filing status changes that were never communicated until a problem surfaced.
Check | Real-Time Proactive Alerting closes this visibility gap. Arcoro Payroll now subscribes to Check webhook events and automatically delivers email notifications to configured customer recipients — before issues become surprises.
Enhancements
Check | Real-Time Proactive Alerting connects Arcoro Payroll to Check’s webhook infrastructure and routes incoming events into outbound email notifications delivered to configured recipients.
Notification Settings — How to Access
A new "Notifications" section is available within Payroll under "Setup." From there they can Add customer recipient email addresses through the drop down menu. All emails must come from employees listed in Hub.

Supported Notification Types
- Balancing Payroll Created — Fires when Check creates a new balancing payroll. Arcoro calls Check’s preview and cash requirement endpoints to retrieve the full itemized breakdown, then delivers it in the notification so recipients have complete context before the debit occurs.
- Filing Status Change — Fires when a company filing moves to a meaningful status such as submitted or filed. Amendment chain context is included when applicable, covering both standard filing updates and W-2C amendment tracking.
Interactions with Other Features
This feature operates at the company level within Payroll Setup. The notification recipient configuration in this release apply uniformly across all supported notification types — per-notification-type recipient preferences are not available in v1. All events are processed through Arcoro’s backend with retry logic and dead-letter handling to ensure failed deliveries are not silently dropped.
Data and Access Guidelines
- Notifications are scoped to the company — each company’s events are routed only to that company’s configured recipients. No cross-company data is included in any alert.
- Email alerts contain only the information surfaced in Check’s webhook payload for the relevant event. No payroll data beyond what Check provides is included.
- All email send attempts are audit logged — notification type, company ID, recipient addresses, timestamp, and success or failure — for support and debugging purposes.
- Failed delivery attempts are retried automatically. Persistent failures are captured in a dead-letter log and do not silently disappear.
Availability and Access
Check | Real-Time Proactive Alerting is available to all Arcoro Payroll companies whose payroll is processed through Check.
- Payroll administrators with access to Company Settings can enable the feature and manage customer recipient addresses.
- Arcoro admin accounts manage the internal Arcoro team email address.
- Any email address added as a customer recipient will receive notifications regardless of whether it belongs to a Hub user — recipients do not need an Arcoro login to receive alerts.
Companies that have not enabled the opt-in toggle will not receive any notifications. The feature is off by default for all companies at launch.
FAQs
- Do we need to do anything to start receiving notifications?
Yes. A payroll administrator must go to Company Settings, find the Notifications section, turn on the opt-in toggle, and add at least one recipient email address. Nothing is sent until the feature is explicitly enabled.
- Who receives the notifications?
Any email addresses added to the customer recipient list in Company Settings. Recipients do not need an Arcoro account — any valid email address can be added. Arcoro’s internal team also receives all notifications at a separately configured group address.
- Can we choose which notification types we receive?
Not in this initial release. The opt-in toggle covers all supported notification types — balancing payroll created and filing status change. Per-notification-type preferences may be considered in a future iteration.
- What does the balancing payroll alert actually tell us?
It includes the payroll ID, an itemized tax breakdown pulled from Check’s cash requirement report, and the total debit amount — giving recipients full context on what will be collected and why before money moves.
- What happens if an email fails to send?
Arcoro retries failed delivery attempts automatically. Persistent failures are captured in an audit log and flagged for engineering review — they are never silently dropped.
