Setting Up an Extended Leave Time Off Type for Core HR

One example of a time off type you can create is an extended leave type. An extended leave type can be utilized when an employee needs to leave the company for familial or medical reasons for a prolonged period.

Navigating to Time Off Tracking Time Off Types Settings

  1. Enter a name for the extended leave type such as "Extended Leave" or "FMLA"
  2. When setting up this time off type, you will want to enable/disable certain settings such as:
    • Disable "Employees can request time off against this Type from the Employee Portal" - This should be disabled as we do not want the employee to request time off themselves. This should be requested/discussed with an Admin.
    • Disable "Include this Type on the Time Off Summary Tab on the Employee Portal" - This should be disabled as it may affect the employee's time off balance, depending on other settings/factors.
    • Disable "This Type is unpaid and should not be included in Regular Paid Hours" - This setting is disabled by default and can be kept disabled.
    • Disable "This Type is eligible for Over Time" - This should be disabled as the extended leave should not be eligible for overtime.
    • Enable "This Type is eligible for Extend Leave tracking" - This option must be enabled for use with extended leave.
    • Disable "Employees cannot submit time off requests if balance is negative" - This setting is disabled by default and can be kept disabled.
  3. Click Save Type when finished.
