How to Record Your Computer Screen

Recording your computer screen can help capture your issue so our support team can better assist you. Windows 11 and recent MacOS versions offer these capabilities out-of-the-box while older operating systems require you to download a dedicated third-party screen recording application. If you would prefer to capture a screenshot instead, you can refer to steps here.

When recording your screen, please be aware of any sensitive information that may be unintentionally recorded.

Windows 11

Windows 11 allows you to record your computer screen with the "Snipping Tool".

  1. While using your web browser or app, press Windows key + Left Shift Key +  S  at the same time. The "Snipping Tool" action bar should appear towards the top of the screen.
  2. Click the video camera icon. Your cursor should change into a crosshair.
  3. Click and drag your cursor to specify the portion of the screen you want to record. You can adjust the area after your initial selection.
  4. Click Start from the "Snipping Tool" action bar. A countdown should begin.
    • You can mute your computer microphone and computer sounds from the action bar.
  5. Recreate the issue you are experiencing.
  6. Click the  ■  stop button when finished.
  7. Your recording will appear in the "Snipping Tool" window. Save the video and attach it to your support ticket.

Mac OS

Recent versions of Mac OS allow you to record your computer screen with the screenshot toolbar.

  1. While using your web browser or app, press Command + Left Shift Key +  5  at the same time. The screenshot toolbar should appear towards the bottom of your screen.
  2. Use the two buttons towards the center of the toolbar to specify how you want record your screen. One will allow you to record the entire computer screen while the other will record a portion of the screen.
  3. The options menu will allow you to set up a delay, show your mouse cursor, show your mouse clicks, and where you want your recording saved.
  4. Click Record and recreate the issue you are experiencing.
  5. Click the  ■  stop button when finished.
  6. Attach the recording to your support ticket.
