Time cards and timesheets on ExakTime Mobile allow your employees to review their own time and related information, including comments and time records that may require attention. Your higher-level employees, such as supervisors or managers, can also review and manage time for employees within their viewset. Your leaders can also be permitted to edit time as well from ExakTime Mobile, so they can make adjustments in a pinch. We still recommend performing the majority of time edits on ExakTime Connect as it allows you to view and edit more information, such as mobile forms and more.

Set Up Time Entry Method
The time tracking method is selected by an Administrator on ExakTime Connect and determines if they will track and review their time with a time card or a timesheet.
Time cards are typically used by field employees to track when they start and end their workday. Timesheets are typically used by office or salary staff who only need to track how many hours they worked for a given day.

Granting Permission to Time Cards/Timesheets
An ExakTime Mobile Security Role determines if an employee can access time cards or timesheets. An employee's viewset will determine if they can see the time cards/timesheets of other employees
- Go to Manage and click on Security Roles.
- Click Add Security Role to create a new role or select an existing ExakTime Mobile security role.
- Enable the appropriate Time Card/Timesheet option for the security role. "View" is suitable for everyone, while "Edit" and "Delete" are reserved for Managers and Admins.
- For employees using timesheets, you may want to consider creating an exclusive security role for them so they can edit their timesheet with their hours worked.
- Save any changes.
- You may also need to set up an employee's viewset to view other employees' time or their time entry method if they will track their time with time cards or timesheets.
- If you are unfamiliar with assigning a security role, you can check out our resources for assigning security roles to individuals or multiple employees.
- Your ExakTime Mobile users will need to sync their copies of ExakTime Mobile, log out, and then log back in to see menu changes.

Time Entry Warnings & Restrictions
Depending on your time card time entry settings, mobile time card editors may see warnings and restrictions when trying to add/edit time records. If you want to see/adjust your time card time entry settings, you can refer to the following article.
The warning will let them know if the time record will exceed a certain threshold. They can still add the time record, but just be aware that it may be longer than expected.
The restriction will prevent them from adding/editing a time record that exceeds a certain threshold.
